RONALDO Vieira's stoppage time winner condemned the Canaries to a third straight Sky Bet Championship defeat as Leeds United came away from Carrow Road with a 3-2 victory.
The Yorkshire outfit started with more confidence and Michael McGovern was called into action twice to deny Kalvin Phillips and then Chris Wood.
City needed a boost and it came 24 minutes in when Robbie Brady's glancing header from Alex Pritchard's corner found its way in at the back post via Whites defender Luke Ayling on the line.
Alex Neil's men then started grow more into the play, although Leeds - through the influential Kemar Roofe - carried a significant threat in the final third.
He headed narrowly wide inside the first minute of the second period, but his collision with Ryan Bennett while doing so forced his early substitution for Hadi Sacko in the 54th minute.
Unperturbed, the visitors drew level three minutes later - Pontus Jansson lost Cameron Jerome and, not in a dissimilar fashion to Brady earlier, looped his header over Louis Thompson on the line and in.
McGovern then had to get between attempts from Phillips and Pablo Hernandez, but there was nothing he could do when Chris Wood rifled Ayling's pass into the roof of the net to edge Leeds in front with a quarter of an hour left.
Kyle Lafferty looked to have his team a point with his first of the season off the bench when he slotted home after Jerome's chested assist, but Vieira's speculative effort in stoppage time secured his side a third straight victory.
HOW THEY LINED UP
Wes Hoolahan started for his 300th City appearance, with Neil making two changes from the 5-0 reverse at Brighton a week ago.
Alex Tettey's suspension opened up space for Thompson, who made his first league start for the Club having clocked five appearances off the bench this season.
Jacob Murphy had to settle for a place among the substitutes, with Brady operating off the right flank. Pritchard started on the left, with Jerome once again leading the line.
There appeared to be little danger when substitute Vieira picked up the ball 30 yards out, but few could believe it when - just two minutes after Lafferty had drawn City level - his effort found the corner.
Vieira, who netted the winning penalty in the shootout when Leeds knocked the Canaries out of the EFL Cup last month, took one touch before trying his luck.
McGovern got a hand to the shot but failed keep it out, and the nature and timing of the strike sent the visiting supporters into raptures.
WHAT IT MEANS
City dropped down one place in the Championship table, with Reading elevating themselves above them following their 3-0 triumph away to Wigan.
With a number of the squad now set to join up with their countries for international fixtures, Neil and his staff have two weeks to assess the poor recent run before they take on QPR on November 19.
