THE CANARIES made it three wins in a row by grinding out a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City on Saturday.
The first half was a typically scrappy Sky Bet Championship affair but City were just beginning to edge it when they went ahead five minutes before half-time.
Aron Gunnarsson committed an unnecessary foul on Cameron Jerome, and Wes Hoolahan stepped up to deliver a set-piece that Jerome himself got to first to nod into the bottom corner.
Cardiff were better after the break but John Ruddy wasn't being tested and City's defence, marshalled by skipper Russell Martin, was dealing with the Bluebirds' aerial threat.
City got deeper and deeper as the final whistle approached - Ruddy made superb stop to deny Rhys Healey and their sturdy backline didn't falter, securing three vital points.
HOW THEY LINED UP
City's two new recruits Mitchell Dijks and Yanic Wildschut went straight into the starting line-up for their full debuts.
Dijks replaced the departed Robbie Brady at left-back while Wildschut started ahead of him instead of Steven Naismith, who was missing with a hamstring injury.
The Canaries were otherwise unchanged from last Saturday's 2-0 win over Birmingham City, with the returning Nelson Oliveira having to be content with a place among the substitutes.
In a game where chances were at a premium, Jerome's striking instincts proved crucial as his first half header won it for his side.
City's frontman made his name at Cardiff as a youngster between 2004 and 2006 and he came back to haunt his old employers with his stooping effort before the break.
Hoolahan's contribution in this physical battle was minimal, but the veteran creator still managed to grab an assist with his perfectly judged free-kick.
WHAT IT MEANS
This was the Canaries' first win on the road since October 1 - a barren run that lasted over four months.
At the close of the afternoon's action, Alex Neil's men had risen up to 7th place in the table, just three points behind Sheffield Wednesday in sixth.
