REVIEW: ROBINS 1-1 CITY

NORWICH City and Bristol City played out a 1-1 draw in the Sky Bet Championship at Ashton Gate.

Both teams made a tentative start to the game but City started to fashion opportunities, with Yanic Wildschut drilling back across goal after being teed up by Josh Murphy.

Steven Naismith then spurned a glorious one-on-one chance on the half hour mark but nine minutes later Wildschut struck his first Canaries goal to put his team ahead.

City found themselves three on three with the Robins defence but the Dutch winger went alone and finished emphatically after cutting inside his man.

Callum O'Dowda then struck the woodwork as the hosts responded but Lee Johnson's men were booed off at the break by the home crowd.

Michael McGovern's instinctive stop kept out Aden Flint's header early in the second half but the visitors continued to be the more offensive team.

Moments after McGovern had clawed away a Callum O'Dowda shot, they drew level when the Canaries' failure to clear a corner allowed Bailey Wright to lash the ball home from close range.

Bristol City pushed for the winner but couldn't find it, though City will have still been frustrated with a point.

HOW THEY LINED UP
Alex Neil hinted that he would make changes ahead of the game and he stuck to his word, making four alterations to the side that were convincingly beaten at Sheffield Wednesday.

Michael McGovern replaced John Ruddy in goal, Ryan Bennett came in for Timm Klose in defence and the two other switches came on the flanks.

Murphy stepped in for his twin brother Jacob while Wildschut started on the left wing in support of Cameron Jerome, who continued to lead the line in the absence of Nelson Oliveira.

KEY MOMENT
The Robins' pressure was steadily building after the interval so it wasn't surprising when they found the leveller with eleven minutes on the clock.

David Cotterill's delivered the set-piece and with the ball loose in the box, Wright pounced quickest to fire through a crowd of players and into the back of the net.

A point kept the Canaries in eighth place in the Sky Championship ahead of Saturday's home game against another side near the bottom of the table, Blackburn Rovers.
