ALEX Neil has been named as the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for September.
The Norwich City boss oversaw four victories in five league games throughout the month, alongside his team reaching the fourth round of the EFL Cup by winning at Premier League side Everton.
Neil was announced as the winner of the award on Friday, seeing off competition from Newcastle United’s Rafa Benitez, Sheffield Wednesday’s Carlos Carvahal and Reading’s Jaap Stam.
Speaking to Norwich City TV, Neil said: "It's recognition of how well the team’s done over the last month, which is nice for everybody involved.
"The scorelines from the games in the month have been quite tight, but the gulf between ourselves and the opposition is probably more than the scorelines suggest.
"We’re now up to second, but disappointingly we didn’t pick up the points we thought we deserved at Newcastle. We’ve got a lot to be happy about, however a lot still to work on."
