Fosters Solicitors' Andrea Spooner recognised for her leadership

SIMPLEXITY Travel’s search for Norwich’s Business Hero is at an end with Andrea Spooner from Fosters Solicitors announced as the unanimous winner.

She was nominated by her associate, Jamie Arnall, who was unstinting in his praise for Andrea as a colleague and as a friend, even citing her as the main inspiration for him joining the firm.

When Simplexity Travel launched this initiative on 1st January, it was looking to find a team leader or supervisor who could not only demonstrate brilliant leadership, reliability and problem solving skills, but who made the workplace that little bit better.

Over the next eight weeks, the company received scores of nominations but Jamie’s articulate and heartfelt description of Andrea’s qualities made her a worthy winner.

Said Andrea, “I am in complete shock. It’s the biggest compliment I could be given. I think I work harder now as a manager than when I was first appointed. The key to success is picking good people, giving them clear goals and making sure they feel they can talk to you at any point. I believe that heavily investing in people means you get the best out of them.”

Jamie revealed that the minute he heard about the initiative, he knew he had to put Andrea forward, “She is the epitome of how people should treat each other within business: with trust, courtesy and respect. I also think Andrea embodies those things in a manager that are easy to take for granted. I thought Simplexity Travel’s competition was the ideal way to recognise her for those things.”

Added Mark Smith, Simplexity’s Head of Business Development: “The moment we read Jamie’s entry we knew we had found our winner. Andrea has all the qualities that make a great leader – and more! She is a person who genuinely cares for her team, always making the time to listen and encourage.”

Andrea will now receive a luxury, all-expenses paid weekend to Paris for two people, with £500 spending money.

In addition, thanks to Simplexity’s role as Norwich City FC’s Official Travel Management Partner, she and seven of her colleagues will be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the club’s training ground, where they will watch a training session before enjoying a meet and greet, Q&A and photo session with the team and management. Andrea will also receive four pairs of tickets to a Norwich City home game of her choice.
