City defender recalled from loan with Bluebirds

CITY can confirm that defender Leon Barnett has been recalled from his loan spell at recently confirmed npower Championship Champions Cardiff City.

Barnett, who was set to stay at Cardiff City Stadium until the end of the season, returns to Carrow Road as cover following Michael Turner’s injury, picked up in the Canaries’ 2-1 win over Reading on Saturday.

Barnett will be available for selection for the Canaries’ clash with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium this weekend. 

The City defender has enjoyed an excellent spell with the Bluebirds, making eight appearances for Malky Mackay’s side as he helped them to promotion to the Barclays Premier League, confirming themselves as Championship Champions with their 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor last time out.

It’s a second promotion from the Championship in two years for Barnett, having played a major part in the Canaries rise to the top tier in 2010-11.
