The midfielder was dismissed in the first half at Stoke City on Wednesday, a game the Canaries went on to lose 3-1.
Alex Neil said: "We've got other guys who are waiting for an opportunity, so it allows one of them to come back into the team and see what they can do."
City's boss was happy to report no injury concerns among his squad while starting that their midweek exertions won't have any impact on their clash with the Cherries.
"They'll be fine. Once we went down to ten men (against Stoke), we had a more conservative approach because we didn't want to run ourselves into the ground because of this game.
"The likelihood of picking up points was going to be significantly higher because we ten men in the game. The players are fine."
