CITY have now travelled north to Portland, Oregon for the second part of their American pre-season tour.
The Canaries will face Portland Timbers in their final game of their trip on Wednesday evening and are training at both their hosts training facilities and stadium ahead of the game.
Part of the Canary contingent is defender Javier Garrido who has been enjoying the Canaries’ preparations so far.
“It’s been good we’ve been working hard,” said the Spaniard.
“We’ve been running and training hard every day – in Austria three times a day and now here twice a day and I think the facilities in San Jose and here in Portland are great.”
Garrido has featured in both friendly games so far and says they are helping to improve his and the team’s fitness levels as they prepare for another season in the Barclays Premier League.
“It’s always tough the first games, we’ve been working hard but it’s normal to feel a little heavy in your legs - that’s a normal part of pre-season. We’ll get more minutes and feel much better.”
Portland Timbers are having a good season in the MLS’ Western Conference lying second in the table midway through their campaign, therefore proving a stern opposition for the Canaries who are still early in their pre-season preparations.
“It’s going to be a tough game, but that’s going to be good for us to make us fitter and hopefully do ok and win,” he commented.
The former Manchester City player completed a permanent deal to the Club in the summer having been on loan at Carrow Road from Lazio all last season – a move he was more than happy to make.
“I was excited since I came here everything has been so good for me – all the staff and players have welcomed me and I played in a lot of the games last season. I wanted to play here and hopefully the team can finish higher than last season.”
