RYAN BENNETT and Declan Rudd have been included in Stuart Pearce's England Under-21s squad for their upcoming games against Romania and Austria, joining a host of City players who were earlier called-up for their countries.
Defender Bennett and goalkeeper Rudd, who is currently on loan at League One side Preston North End, have the chance to feature in the matches on March 21 and 25 at Adams Park and the American Express Stadium.
Earlier this week, City’s Sebastien Bassong was selected by Head Coach Jean-Paul Akono to represent Cameroon in their upcoming qualifying match with Togo in Yaounde. The Les Lions are currently third in their group behind Libya and the Democratic Republic of Congo with just two games played.
Bassong will claim a 16th cap for his country should he be selected in the starting-11 at the Stade Omnisport on March 23, kick-off 2.30pm local time.
On-loan forward Kei Kamara was also selected to represent country Sierra Leone ahead of their World Cup qualifying match away to Tunisia on March 23, kick-off 6pm local time.
It is set to be an emotional return to action for his country for Kamara, who will make a first return to Sierra Leone since making his Premier League debut for the Canaries and of course scoring a first goal in City’s 2-1 win over Everton.
Russell Martin and Robert Snodgrass were also called-up to Gordon Stachan’s Scotland squad for his first World Cup qualifying matches against Wales and Serbia.
The Scots are currently bottom of qualifying Group A with two points from four games so far. Martin and Snodgrass will meet up with the squad following the Canaries’ clash with Sunderland on Sunday.
Elsewhere, striker Simeon Jackson was called up by Canada for their upcoming friendly clashes with Japan and Belarus in Doha, Qatar.
The Canucks are set to face Japan on March 21, with a clash against Belarus to follow on March 24.
Academy star Josh Murphy is also part of Noel Blake’s England Under-19 squad for their international clash with Turkey on March 21, to take place at Telford United’s New Bucks Head stadium, kick-off 7.30pm.
