NORWICH City's Under-21s fell to a 5-0 defeat on a difficult playing surface against Chelsea at Aldershot's EBB Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The hosts raced into an early lead when Reece Mitchell slotted the ball past a stranded Jake Kean after some good build-up play by Blues captain Fankaty Dabo on 4 minutes.
Tammy Abraham had a chance to double the advantage moments later but could not turn the ball home from close range.
A lofted corner was headed back across goal and City failed to clear, leaving an unmarked Jordan Houghton to lash in Chelsea's second after 11 minutes.
Dmitri Halajko's side began to grow into the game more and fielded some neat passages of play, notably Benny Ashley-Seal flashing a shot just wide of the target.
Abraham brought a fine save from Kean shortly after the restart, with the 'keeper beating away the effort to safety.
An incisive breakaway from the hosts on 56 minutes would kill the game off, when Ben Godfrey was dispossessed in the middle of the park by Kasey Palmer. Abraham's shot clattered the post and the rebound fell kindly for Palmer, who tapped into an empty net.
Substitute Dion Conroy then made an instant impact just one minute after coming on, as the defender cut inside from the left and bent a curling effort into the far top corner of Kean's net.
The home side's advantage was extended further when Fikayo Tomori hit a sweetly-struck volley into the City net from a Chelsea corner.
Chelsea had further chances late on to make it even worse for the young Canaries, but were thwarted by some good defending and goalkeeper Kean.
