Five City players in action at the weekend

JOSH Murphy scored for MK Dons but the Sky Bet Championship side suffered a damaging defeat to fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

Murphy's 89th-minute strike halved his team's deficit after goals from Rob Holding and Darren Pratley had put the hosts firmly in control at the Macron Stadium.

Shola Ameobi's injury-time third for basement club Bolton secured them the win, however, leaving the Dons just two points clear of the relegation places.

Murphy, who has made 27 appearances for Karl Robinson's team this season, also netted in midweek as MK Dons booked an FA Cup Fourth Round tie at home to Chelsea with a 3-0 replay victory over Northampton.

Elsewhere in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 at Reading but loanee Michael Turner wasn't involved in the matchday squad.

Harry Toffolo made his debut for Peterborough United after the full-back completed a loan move to the Sky Bet League One play-off chasers last Thursday

Toffolo played 90 minutes but Posh were beaten 2-1 by Gillingham, who went top of the division with three points earned.
Jake Kean was helpless to prevent Colchester United from sinking further into the relegation mire as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at managerless Scunthorpe United.

The goalkeeper also featured in their midweek draw with Fleetwood Town, but the Us are now seven points adrift of safety.

Meanwhile injury prevented Jacob Murphy making a return to his former loan club Southend United, who beat his current team Coventry City 3-0 at Roots Hall.

In the Vanarama National League, Cameron Norman played 90 minutes for Woking as they battled to a 1-1 draw with Halifax Town despite being reduced to ten men.

The Cards are now on the cusp of the play-off places after going seven matches unbeaten in the division.
North of the border, Conor McGrandles made his first start since returning to Falkirk on a temporary basis - the Scottish Championship side's meeting with Livingston finished 1-1.

In the Premiership, Carlton Morris was an unused substitute for Hamilton Academical as they drew an ill-tempered affair 0-0 with Hearts. Morris was also on the bench for the Accies' 8-1 thrashing at the hands of Celtic last Tuesday.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel didn't feature for La Liga outfit Real Betis, who held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw on home soil.
