A run of only two defeats in their last 12 Premier League matches has elevated West Ham United into the top six as the season enters its final third.

City will take though hope from the fact that those two losses have come in their last two league matches on the road, in games against Southampton and the Canaries' relegation rivals Newcastle United.

Slaven Bilic, who has guided his team to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, has enjoyed a fruitful first season as manager at the club who he represented as a player for a year-and-a-half in the 1990s.

This is the final season that West Ham will play at their Boleyn Ground home before completing a move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford for the 2016-17 campaign.

West Ham have opened negotiations to tie down a new deal for their talisman Dimitri Payet.

The France international has proved one of the signings of the season, contributing six goals and four assists in the Premier League, while Slaven Bilic's team suffered a downturn in form during Payet's two-month absence with injury at the back end of 2015.

He arrived in east London for an eight-figure sum, moving away from football in his homeland for the first time.

Born on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean, the 28-year-old previously plied his trade at Nantes, Saint-Etienne and Lille.

A 121st-minute header from Angelo Ogbonna secured a dramatic extra-time FA Cup victory over Liverpool at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday night.

The two sides were forced into a replay after the initial tie at Anfield finished 0-0 on January 30.
It's the Hammers who eventually set up a Fifth Round meeting with Blackburn Rovers however, beating their Merseyside opponents for the first time in the competition.

Michail Antonio put West Ham ahead on the stroke of half-time but after Philippe Coutinho equalised via a free-kick, the contest was level at the end of normal time.

With penalties looming, Ogbonna then rose to meet Dimitri Payet's free-kick with a firm header beyond Simon Mignolet to win it.
