Defender picks up prestigious Barry Butler Memorial Trophy
DEFENDER Sebastien Bassong has been voted as the Anglian Home Improvements Player of the Season after a hugely impressive debut campaign for the Canaries.
Bassong saw off competition from Robert Snodgrass (runner-up) and Bradley Johnson (third place) to earn the prestigious Barry Butler Memorial Trophy.
The Cameroon international, a summer signing from Tottenham Hotspur, has been key part of the defence that has been the cornerstone of the Club’s successes in the Premier League this season.
The 26-year-old has played 35 times this year, scoring three goals against Everton, Sunderland and Swansea over a two-week period in November and December.
Winger Snodgrass, also in his first year at Carrow Road, is the Club’s leading appearance maker and is also joint top-scorer with Grant Holt having netted seven times, including in last weekend’s memorable 4-0 win against West Bromwich Albion.
Johnson has stood out in the competitive central midfield berth, missing just one league game this season, scoring his solitary goal in the victory against Stoke City at Carrow Road in November.
Norwich City would like to congratulate all three players and the squad as a whole for their efforts this season and in securing a third consecutive year of Premier League football for next year.
