CHRIS Hughton felt his side got another good test as they continued their pre-season preparations with a competitive 1-1 draw against Championship Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
Jonny Howson's first half strike was equalised by Solly March's thunderbolt in the last ten minutes, and City's manager acknowledged both sides' performances.
"It was a tough game, which is what we expected as they're about to start their campaign of course on Saturday and have had some good games before," said Hughton.
"But I thought we showed some really good touches and really good quality in that first half, and what tends to happen in a lot of these games is that they tend to open up a little in that last period.
"I suppose it was game of good chances and I thought the best chances fell to Ricky (van Wolfswinkel) and Luciano (Becchio). And sometimes you have to hold your hands up when you concede a goal like that which was a wonderful strike, but it shouldn't have got that far we had two good opportunities to clear it - but this is the sort of test you want at this stage of pre-season."
Missing from tonight's squad was Scottish international Robert Snodgrass, Hughton commented: "He didn't feature because of a personal family issue but he will be back with us hopefully tomorrow and be involved with us on Friday - we look forward to seeing him tomorrow."
He added that centre-backs Michael Turner and Sebastien Bassong continued to make good progress on their return from injury.
"We're hoping Michael will be involved possibly Friday but he's closer than Seb who is a week to two-and-a-half weeks behind him, but of course it's disappointing that we haven't had them available at the beginning of pre-season."
Hughton confirmed that several players who weren't involved tonight could feature against Cambridge United in tomorrow evening's match at the Abbey Stadium.
