Second half goals condemn U18s to defeat

TWO goals in the second period from hosts West Ham United saw Norwich City's Under-18s fall to a 2-0 defeat on Saturday morning.

A Marcio Martins strike and a Kieran Bywater penalty were enough to leave Neil Adams' young Canaries disappointed after a valiant performance.

An even opening half saw chances for both sides, with Norwich's coming through Jake Simpson and Harvey Hodd.

City almost benefited from an own goal minutes in the second period, but Bywater was a constant threat up the other end.

It was he who set up Martins for the deadlock-breaking goal, with the latter holding his nerve when one-on-one with the City 'keeper.

The Canaries pushed for an equaliser with Simpson going close again, but Bywater converted a stoppage time penalty to wrap up the points.

NORWICH CITY: Thomas, Efete, Scales, Hodd, Fox (Burgess 81), Wyatt, Norman (c), Eaton-Collins, Browne, King (Grant 31), Simpson (Cole 76). Subs not used: Oxborough (GK), Walters.
