In an earlier programme I informed you that current under-16 goalkeeper Remi Matthews had agreed to join us in the summer as a scholar, I am pleased to report that two more of our current under-16 squad have accepted terms to begin a two-year scholarship contract with the Club to begin in July 2010.
Midfielder Sam Kelly who has been with the Club for the last two seasons has impressed with his performances for the under-16s and under-18s and fully deserves his offer of a scholarship.
Sam, who is the brother of current first year professional Danny Kelly, can operate in any position across the midfield and is an intelligent player with a good a eye for a pass coupled with excellent athleticism.
Fellow under-16 midfielder Jason Dobbs has also committed to a two-year scholarship with the Club.
Jason has been with the Club since the beginning of this season and has done well enough in this short space of time to be offered a deal at Norwich City.
Jason is a strong, combative midfielder who likes to get forward and support attacks, his play compliments that of Sam Kelly and the two have forged a very successful partnership for our under-16 side this season.
Jason is yet to make his first appearance for the under-18 side but I am sure over the coming weeks he will be involved more and more.
Both players must continue to work hard in the remainder of this season and look to cement a place in the youth team squad. The experience they gain now playing for the under-18s will be of real benefit to them, helping them get used to the pace of the game at that level.
They must now make the most of any time spent at the training ground to impress the staff at the Club, whether this is in matches, training or their general behaviour around the building.
I am delighted that Sam and Jason have agreed to join us full-time in the summer and on behalf of all at Norwich City I would like to congratulate both players on securing their scholarships with the Club and hope this will be the first of many contracts they sign with the Club.
Enjoy the game.
