I am pleased to report that last week two of our second year scholars were offered professional contracts at the Club for next season.
Right-back George Francomb and winger Josh Dawkin, who have both tasted first team football this season, were rewarded for their hard work with the offer of a one-year professional deal to start in the summer.
Both players have performed well in the youth team this season and have taken their opportunity in reserve matches, first team training sessions and matches to impress the senior coaching staff at the Club and fully deserve their contract offers.
In addition to their football potential, both players show a very good attitude around the training ground and are a real example to all young players in the Academy programme.
This is the very first step on the footballing ladder and it is extremely important for both lads to continue to work hard and impress at every opportunity. I am positive both players have the correct work ethic and desire to achieve their goals in the game and it is now up to them to prove they have what it takes to progress in the game.
George and Josh now join Tom Adeyemi, Sam Habergham and David Stephens in the professional ranks at the Club, with all five players progressing from the same age group, and I am sure these young players will help George and Josh settle in next season.
On behalf of all at the Football Club I would like to congratulate both George and Josh and hope they both go on to enjoy long and successful careers at Norwich City.
Fellow second-year scholars Tyree Clarke and Johnbull Osemwegie were informed that they would not be offered a contract for next season. We of course hope that they both go on and secure registrations at other professional clubs and achieve their dream of becoming professional footballers elsewhere.
I would like to thank both lads for their hard work and dedication to the Club during their association with Norwich City and on behalf of everyone at the Club I would like to wish them well for the future.
Enjoy the game.
