JUNE 2007 saw volunteers from City's Canaries For The Community scheme at Wroxham FC's Trafford Park, as part of their latest effort to help grass roots clubs in the county.

The scheme's co-ordinator, Duncan MacInnes, told First News ahead of the weekend: "We are painting boards and railings round the pitch tomorrow (Friday) with six staff from NCFC and on Saturday there are 12 volunteers plus a few from Wroxham painting changing rooms, corridors and other rooms.

"On Friday, Ben Thompson, who plays for Wroxham, and Val Lemmon whose son, Gavin, also plays for the Yachtsmen will be two of the NCFC staff involved.

"On Saturday, Bryan Gunn will be presenting a CFTC plaque to Wroxham officials. Volunteers on Saturday include Teresa Povey, Jeanine Whistlecraft, Alison Palmer and Zoe Fail (Zoe travels up specially from Tunbridge Wells!) who have done 16 previous projects between them - what an outstanding contribution they have made!"

Duncan continued: "Two of the volunteers joining us on Saturday for the first time are PC Nathan Tuck and PC Brian Levy from Hoveton Police Station. Nathan and Brian will be swapping their uniforms for bright yellow CFTC T-shirts and jeans as part of the Safer Neighbourhood Scheme."
