CANARIES HELP TRAWLER BOYS

Posted on: Wed 09 Dec 2009

NORWICH City staff joined up with Lowestoft Town FC staff on Friday, July 4, to paint the bar and social area at the Suffolk club's Crown Meadow ground.

The project was the 12th one undertaken by Canaries for the Community (CFTC) since it was founded in 2003 by volunteer, Duncan MacInnes.

Each year, CFTC have helped at a non-league East Anglian club as an illustration of the importance of encouraging the grass roots of football.

Previously successful projects have been undertaken at Diss Town, Thetford Town, Holt United, Great Yarmouth Town and Wroxham FC.

"It is great," Duncan said, "that a leading club such as Norwich City have such a good relationship with local area teams and the CFTC projects are just one of a number of ways that the club expresses support."

All projects are supported by CFTC Sponsors, Aviva who fund the expenses incurred. Jenny Gillett, Sales & Marketing Director thanked the volunteers for their help and said: "What you've done has helped us so much and will make such a massive difference."
