CANARIES HELP OUT THE MAGPIES
CANARIES for the Community volunteers recently visited Dereham Town Football Club, where the group enjoyed a successful day painting the perimeter fence around the pitch, as well as giving the changing rooms a fresh coat of paint.
Each year CFTC offer to help a local non-league football club to show its support for the grassroots of football. On Friday and Saturday of last week, it was the turn of Dereham Town to benefit from the hard work of volunteer fans and Norwich City staff, with the Ridgeons League club also benefiting from the donation of materials by CFTC sponsors, Aviva.

A HELPING HAND: CFTC volunteers recently helped out
at Dereham Town FC.
This was the 14th project undertaken by CFTC since its inception in 2003, and painting of the perimeter fence at Aldiss Park and redecoration of the changing rooms was led by founder and project manager, Duncan MacInnes. Speaking to canaries.co.uk, he commented: "It's great to see so many people turning out to help their local community. As well as benefiting the area, volunteers also have fun and gain satisfaction from using their time to help others."
Canary staff and fans were joined in the task at by club officials from Dereham Town including First Team Manager, Matt Henman and Chairman Simon Barnes. NCFC Community Ambassador, Jeremy Goss worked both days and on Saturday presented a plaque to the Dereham Town Chairman. Simon thanked all the volunteers and said: "This is a tremendous help to a club like ours and we really appreciate the time that's been given to us by all the Canaries for the Community volunteers."
A Norwich City XI play a pre-season friendly at Aldiss Park on Wednesday, July 22 (7.45pm KO).
