COMMUNITY GOSS - MAY AND JUNE
City's Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss reserved a special mention: "On behalf of the Club I would like to say thank you and well done again to all the FITC coaches, Study Centre tutors, Canaries for the Community volunteers and Flegg High School peer support students for all the great NCFC related work you do within the community."
Here are a few of the latest events/functions, which, I and the Club have been involved in recently.
Ability Counts Grand Prix
On April 23, Carrow Park was the venue for the 2007/08 Ability Counts Grand Prix League Final. The day was a great opportunity for many disabled people to take part in a 6-a-side competition and have the chance to win trophies and medals.
Winners of the A League were Assist Trust and the Derham Day Services were the B League winners. It was a special day for all who took part and thanks go to
FITC staff Darren Lovell and his team of coaches plus Alex Dewbury who helped organise this very successful event.

Chris Martin Officially Opens Men's Hair Salon
Canaries star striker Chris Martin was happy to help out within the community recently when he opened up a brand new men's hairdresser in Beccles. During his time there Chris received a quick 'trim' from new owner Rachel and was great in answering as many questions as he could in a special Q & A session. The people who attended the day were very impressed with the professional way in which Chris conducted himself and with his desire to well this season. Well done Chris!

Get Safe for Summer
Norwich City helped support a crucial 'Get Safe for Summer' campaign recently to highlight the dangers of swimming in the sea this summer along our Norfolk coastline. It was a vital message to get across to the 150 school children who attended the event at the Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth and to help promote the day five times Olympic medallist James Hickman was present to give advice on the importance of learning to swim as well as showing off his remarkable swimming talents in the pool.
It was a fantastic day, which, also included myself talking about health and fitness aspects of the NCFC players.

Rugby Star Scott Quinell visits Carrow Road
Former rugby star Scott Quinell was the guest of honour during the NCS Celebration Conference held at Carrow Road. The evening was an opportunity to congratulate NCS staff for achieving NVQ awards, which, tied in with the NCFC Study Support Centre and their role of promoting adult literacy. I was delighted to represent the Club on the night acting as MC and I'm pleased to point out that the Football Club, in particular, the Study Centre was applauded by all the guest speakers for the important role it plays within the community. Well done to Ross, Nicky and Paul for conducting excellent ground tours on the night.

Flegg High School - Fair Play Scheme
It was a sad time for five Flegg High School students recently as the Year 11 Peer Support Trainers finished their Fair Play Training.
Deputy Head at Flegg High, Mike Ward, thanked the students and said, "Well done to James Bane, Simon Cheeseman, Isaac Gentle, Kirsty Rick and Tobias Moll for their magnificent effort in training so many schools in Peer Support at Carrow Road. We wish them well in the future."
On behalf of Norwich City thank you all for the great work you have done in making a positive difference to peoples lives.

Canaries for the Community - Maddermarket Project
Another very successful CFTC event took place in Norwich recently with over fifteen volunteers offering their help in painting the inside of the Maddermarket Theatre. The project was to completely redecorate the lounge and café area but in addition we also managed to paint other areas leading to the auditorium and bar. It really was a great 'team' effort from all and the theatre were delighted with the standard of work completed.
On behalf of Norwich City a big thank you to the founder of CFTC, Duncan MacInnes for his 'drive' and energy in making the day a huge success.

FITC/North Norfolk Schools Sport Partnership
A 'Euro' style Soccer festival took place at Holt Football Club on Monday, June 16, as part of an initiative to encourage children to get involved in sport. The day was organised by FITC and the North Norfolk Schools Sports Partnership who 'set-up' events such as this one to promote the benefits of participating in sport and physical activity.
Well done to FITC's Stevie Bramble, and his team of coaches who managed practical coaching sessions for the ten school teams before the 7-a-side competition began.

Canary Experience Golf Day
Sprowston Manor was the venue for the first of our 2008 Canary Experience Golf Day's. It was a fantastic event with four former Canaries playing along side nine Norwich City fans. Each participant enjoyed the special one-off day and left with an NCFC related prize. All proceeds from the event went towards the Academy Tactic Zone.
My thanks go to Rob Whittle who helped organise the day.

NCFC Support The Presidents Sporting Club
An organisation set up by the now Chairman, Mike Jackson M.B.E. some twenty years ago with an objective to raise money to promote sporting facilities and opportunities for disabled children in the area.
Along with Chelmsford and Luton, Thetford was the other venue for this year's Sports Experience Day where myself and Bryan Gunn were delighted to attend and add our support on behalf of Norwich City Football Club. On the day over 300 disabled children from special schools throughout East Anglia were given the opportunity to take part in many sporting activities including trampolining, football, swimming, dancing and bowling. Watching the children experiencing and achieving various sporting challenges was both emotional and inspiring.
My thanks go to Gunny for attending the day and making a positive difference to peoples lives.

Healthy Norfolk Schools Celebration
Carrow Road was chosen as the venue to stage one of Norfolk Schools most important events called 'Healthy Norfolk Schools'. The day was an opportunity to celebrate the work that has been going on in schools throughout the county and recognising schools that have achieved National Healthy Schools Status. There were many activities for the 100 children to participate and learn from including, School Gardens, Growing Schools, Eco Schools, Wormeries, and Waste Management. To add to the day four separate Carrow Road ground tours were organised hosted by former Canaries.
It was a excellent educational day and I was delighted to represent NCFC along with our Fair Play partners, Flegg High School, who were also playing their part by erecting a display unit for children to taste their healthy school made Groovy Smoothie Fruit Drinks!
