Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss reflects on activities and events in March.

Canaries Worldwide Weekend
The 2009 Canaries Worldwide celebrations took place recently and were hailed a success. The weekend's events celebrated the existence of all our NCFC long distance supporter groups and exiled fans who travel up and down the country and in some cases across the world to support the Canaries.

This is the third year that the weekend has taken place and involved a series of events organised by Norwich City's Long Distance Supporter Working Group and the Club.

The weekend kicked off with a quiz night at 'The Murderers' in the city centre with several exile supporter groups bringing teams to the event organised by Forces2Canaries - members of which are Canary fans and their families stationed in the armed forces.

At the Plymouth Argyle match at Carrow Road fan group representatives joined together in a parade around the pitch with their flags and banners at half-time.

A social event took place in the Norfolk Lounge post-match with groups and individual fans joining together for a drink, food and music. A big thank you to Bryan Gunn, his coaching team, the first team squad and Delia and Michael for making a surprise visit on the night to chat and sign autographs.

On the Sunday morning a six-a-side competition took place to win the Canaries Worldwide Cup at the Academy Arena at Colney. Our thanks go to former players Sandy Kennon, Phil Lythgoe, Dougy Evans, Peter Sylvester and Mark Barham for giving up their Sunday to manage the teams, also, thank you to Colin Watts and Ricky Martin for helping out on the day. The Yarmouth Yellows managed by Dougy Evans were the eventual winners and it's worth pointing out that the Forces2Canaries team managed by my good self scored no goals, lost 4 and drew 1 to come a sorry last! Thank you to chairman Roger Munby for coming along to present the winning medals and trophy.

It was a great team effort from lots of different people at the Club and fans to make all the above happen - well done to everyone who played their part.

Wholefood Planet opens in Norwich
An exciting new wholefood shop has opened up in Norwich. Wholefood Planet Norwich is a Community Interest Company (CIC) which is setting out specifically to create paid employment and offer training opportunities to local people with learning difficulties through its successful business operation. All the profits from the company are re-invested back into the business in order to achieve this social mission - dependent, of course, on its success as a business venture. So let's help it achieve its goal for the local Norwich community by buying all our wholefood goods from them! Their website is www.wholefoodplanet.com/norwich and they're located in Old Hall Road (off Hall Road and the Ipswich Road), open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm. Minister for the Third Sector, Kevin Brennan, was present to conduct the official opening and is pictured here buying some quality wholefood.

Holden hands over Renault minibus to Heartsease School
Pupils at Heartsease School in Norwich can now travel around the country in style and safety thanks to a new minibus from Holden Renault. The school has bought a 17-seater Renault Master minibus, which will be used by pupils for out of school activities ranging from sports matches to events.

The keys to the minibus were handed over to Heartsease headteacher Christine Kenna by Terry Smith from Holden Renault's Business Centre along with my good self. Terry Smith said: "Holden Renault supports Norwich City Football Club's Community Programme and is heavily involved with sport and young people, so we're delighted that Gossy could attend the handover and hope that the school will make the most of their new minibus."

Personally I would like to thank Holden Renault for supporting me in my role as Club Ambassador by providing me with a vehicle to carry out my duties and thank them also for supplying Football in the Community with a minibus for FITC participants.

Reading Day at Tacolneston Primary School
I was pleased to represent the Club at Tacolneston Primary School recently to talk about Norwich City and to speak about the importance and benefits of reading. It was great to meet so many young people who were Norwich City fans and listen to their stories of devotion towards our Club. They most certainly are the next generation of season ticket holders who, Im sure, will be dedicated fans for years to come. I would like to thank everyone at the school for their warm welcome.
