COMMUNITY GOSS - APRIL
THE latest update from Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss from April 2009.
Gary Doherty launches Bayer CropScience and EDP's Poetry Competition
Mill View Middle School was the chosen location for Bayer CropScience and the EDP to launch their annual poetry competition. First team captain, Gary Doherty, was present to support the event, which encourages children to improve their literacy skills by writing and submitting their own poems. This year's theme for the poems surrounds the subject of animals. I would like to say a big thank you to Gary for coming to represent the Club and speaking so enthusiastically to all the pupils of the school.

A special day for Luke Hill
Luke, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, epilepsy and other related illnesses, spent some 'quality time' at Colney recently to watch training and meet the players. He has been a big Norwich fan for many years so it was a pleasure for me to introduce him to Bryan Gunn, Roger Munby and his favourite player, David Marshall, who was kind enough to present him with a pair of his goalkeeping gloves. We also gave Luke a shirt and cap signed by all the players for him to take away as something to remember his day. Thank you to all the players and staff who met Luke and gave him, in his words, the best day of his life!

Alan Gow and Sharron Davies support Flegg High School
Then on-loan City forward, Alan Gow, and former swimming sensation, Sharron Davies, were the guests of honour at Flegg High School recently to help celebrate a week of sporting activities. Flegg already have close links with the Club via the Fair Play scheme, which their own pupils manage to a high standard, so both Alan and I were delighted to join Sharron on the day and together speak about the mental and physical benefits of youngsters participating in sport.

Poppy Bus Launch
I was once again pleased to represent the Club in North Walsham this month to help launch the area's Poppy Bus service. Linking 18 villages and hamlets with North Walsham and Wroxham and connecting services to Norwich and Cromer, this Flexibus is the bus that acts like a taxi picking you up at your door or village location. I'm sure this service will prove to be very successful in the months to come and bring safe and reliable transportation to many living within the area.

Norwich City 'Highly Commended' at 2009 Football League Awards
I'm delighted to report that Norwich City Football Club was highly commended in the Family Club of the Year for the Championship category at the 2009 Football League Awards (pictured top right). It's a great reflection on all the staff working here at the Club and I would like to congratulate everyone working across all departments who helped us to receive this recognition for our on-going commitment to affordable family football.
