COMMUNITY GOSS - MAY
THE LATEST update from Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss for May 2009.
FITC Disability Grand Prix League supported by Aviva
Carrow Park was the venue for the final Disability Grand Prix League of the season which included 100 players taking part from various day centres and colleges from throughout the County. It was the final tournament of six and medals and trophies were presented to all the participants by manager Bryan Gunn, who along with Aviva Community Affairs Manager, Deborah O'Malley, were kind enough to give up their time to support this very special event. Congratulations to FITC Disability Officer Darran Lovell and all his team for organising such an inspiring competition.

Ian Butterworth attends Local Business 'Inkbox' Fundraising Day
The staff of city centre based business 'Inkbox' have shown outstanding generosity by raising an incredible £3,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. All the money was raised within a three-week period and was supported by many other local businesses that kindly donated raffle prizes. Myself and assistant manager Ian Butterworth, were pleased to attend the cheque presentation day and congratulate everyone involved in raising so much money for a special local charity.

UEA Graduation Certificate Presentation Night
I was honoured to be a guest speaker at the University of East Anglia for what was a special night for 50 Year 10 student Mentees who have completed the University's Student Mentoring Course. The University of East Anglia has been supporting local high school students for the past ten years, placing current University students in schools to work on a one-two-one basis with Year 10 students in a mentoring capacity, to raise aspirations and awareness of further and higher education. On behalf of NCFC I was delighted to present the students with their well-earned awards. Congratulations to Alex Cole who was outstanding in managing and organised the whole event.

Football in the Community 'Extra-Time' Scheme
FITC have designed a very unique scheme which gives people aged over 60 the chance to participate in various sporting activities as well as having the opportunity to listen to former NCFC players talk about their careers. The Extra-Time scheme is proving to be very successful and shows that your never too old to play sport. During his out-of-season break, Darren Huckerby, delighted the group by coming to Carrow Road to speak about life as a professional footballer. Well done to FITC's Steve Girling for managing a very special scheme.
