ADAMS EXTENDS ACADEMY ROLE
CITY can confirm former Canary Neil Adams has extended his coaching role with the Club's Academy to assist Ricky Martin with the Under-18 team as well as continuing his work with the younger age groups.
The winger joined Norwich in 1994, and after five years playing for the Club has since gone on to coach the Under-14s and other schoolboy levels at City's Academy.
Speaking to canaries.co.uk about his latest role with the Canaries, Adams said: "I'm delighted - Ricky asked me if I was interested, still on a part-time basis and having worked with the youth team quite a bit last year I was delighted to accept.
"Obviously during the managerial changeover Ricky was asked to help Bryan (Gunn) out at first-team level and they were short of bodies with the youth team so I've helped out on a few occasions, so I knew the lads and thoroughly enjoyed it - so when I was asked by Ricky to do it again I was delighted.
He continued: "It's part-time, I'll be coaching on Mondays and Tuesdays and then fitting in as many games as I can around my other commitments as well - it gives Ricky an extra body to help out and also progresses my coaching career.
"The youth team had a fantastic year last year, and it was nice to be a little part of it, even if only on an infrequent basis.
"The players now know the standards that are expected of them, and the young lads are coming in and watching the older players and I'm sure everyone wants to match that again."
Academy manager Ricky Martin told First news: "Neil currently coaches within the schoolboy age group, so I'm really glad he's going to increase his hours with us. He's going to assist me and work with the Under-18s, which is something I've wanted him to do for a while - so we can go out and work with the group and give a high level of coaching, and it will enable us to split up into groups.
"We've worked together for several years now, so we know each other and I know he'll be a great addition to the Under-18 squad."
