NORWICH City's Academy side finished third, on goal difference, in the five-match Velo Wateringen Tournament, Holland over the weekend.

City started the tournament on Friday against eventual winners ADO Den Haag and struggled to get to grips with their fluid 4-3-3 formation, going in one down at the interval. A much improved second half performance saw City equalise through George Francomb, heading in at the far post from a free-kick. However a minute later the Dutch side restored their lead, running out 2-1 winners.

The following day City met Dutch sides Quick Den Haag and Velo. Francomb volleyed City in front inside two minutes and Patrick Drmola doubled the lead midway six minutes later. Quick Den Haag pulled one back before the break but two second half goals saw City up and running. Drmola grabbed his second of the match after good work down the right by Kenny Reeves, who turned from provider to scorer to wrap up a 4-1 win.

Drmola and Reeves picked up where they left off, against hosts Velo Wateringen helping City to a 3-0 win. Drmola put City ahead only five minutes in. In the second half it was Reeves turn to shine, notching a brace, both following good approach play by Ryan Oakley.

On the final day of the tournament, Sunday, City drew 1-1 with the Irish Development Squad. Reeves thought he had put City ahead earlier on, only to be ruled out by an assistant's flag. However, it was the Irish side that broke the deadlock on the counter attack in the first half. City upped the tempo second half with Korey Smith playing an influential role. The midfielder drew City level midway through the second half, heading home from a corner.

The final game saw City beat Danish side FC Nordsjaelland 3-1 with goals from Drmola, Welsh youth international winger Josh Dawkin and Tyree Clarke. However, that win wasn't enough to leapfrog the Irish Development Squad, who held onto second spot on goal difference.
