A NIGHTMARE spell for City either side of the interval saw Swansea score three goals to cancel out Arturo Lupoli's opener for the Canaries.

And although a bizarre own goal from Angel Rangel threw City a lifeline they ultimately couldn't reclaim the ground lost to those three strikes from Jason Scotland, Ferrie Bodde and Darren Pratley.

City took the lead after 27 minutes when Arturo Lupoli reacted quickly to a challenge on Canary skipper Mark Fotheringham. The Italian swept the ball first time past the helpless Dimitrios Konstantopoulos from 16 yards.

Swansea thought they'd levelled when Ashley William's shot deflected into the net off David Bell but assistant referee Amy Rayner flagged for off-side against Jason Scotland.

Scotland secured the equaliser for the visiting side in the 43rd minute, when a break down the right saw Jordi Gomez feed the ball to Angel Rangel and his low cross side footed home by Scotland.

Within a minute, Matthew Pattison's curling effort from 25 yards hit the inside of the post and bounced across the six-yard area with Konstantopoulos well beaten.

CANARY CAPTAIN: Skipper Mark Fotheringham unleashes
a fierce drive against Swansea City at Carrow Road

Half time: Norwich 1 Swansea 1

City had a nightmare start when within the opening two minutes of the second half, Swansea were 3-1 up.

The first came when Pratley's glancing header from a Gomez corner skimmed off the head of David Bell and into the net. Within a minute they had stretched their lead when a neat backheel from Gomez sent Ferrie Bodde clear in the box and he blasted home between the legs of David Marshall.

The Canaries brought the score to 3-2 when Mark Fotheringham's pass to Lupoli in the box was intercepted by Rangel and the Swansea right-back dinked the ball over his own 'keeper and into the net.
