CITY YOUTH'S 5-1 VICTORY OVER CHARLTON
CITY'S Academy side entertained Charlton Athletic at a blustery Colney Training Centre and made best use of the conditions early on in their 5-1 win.
In the 19th minute, a through-ball from midfield was chased down by Luke Daley who forced the Charlton 'keeper to rush his clearance. This found the feet of Kris Renton who fired into an empty net from 30 yards to take the lead.
Four minutes later a fantastic move from Norwich full-back Richard Brindley played the ball forward to Kris Renton who passed inside for Danny Kelly to double Norwich's lead.
Charlton came forward on a couple of occasions and in the 28th minute they were awarded a penalty when Dario Dumic was adjudged to have fouled the Charlton winger. The resulting kick was scored and Charlton were given a way back into the game.
Five minutes later Charlton found another way through and a low drive looked to be heading for the bottom corner of the net, but Jed Steer made a fantastic save low to his left to keep the ball out.
On 36 minutes, Luke Daley broke quickly down the right wing, his cross evaded Danny Kelly but was met by Kris Renton who finished well from ten yards for his second of the game.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk after the match, Academy Director Ricky Martin said: "Today's performance was excellent, the boys worked very hard and were totally committed to winning the game. Over recent weeks we have been guilty of missing too many chances and paying the price. Today we were much more clinical in front of goal and fully deserved our victory."
