MEDIA REACTION TO CITY WIN

Posted on: Thu 29 Nov 2007

LOCAL and national media have been giving their reaction for the Canaries' excellent 3-1 win over Blackpool on Tuesday night.

In the Eastern Daily Press, reporter Chris Lakey wrote: "Norwich City finally ended their away day blues last night and gave hope that all may not be lost this season. Having ended their winless streak at the weekend, City bagged their first away win since a victory at Leicester last April, winning 3-1 at fellow strugglers Blackpool - their first points away from home since the opening day goalless draw at Preston.

"Two goals by Dion Dublin and one central defender Martin Taylor sent more than 400 travelling fans home happy for the first time in months. But boss Glenn Roeder insists the hard work has just begun."

In The Sun, Julie Stott focussed on goalkeeper David Marshall's heroics, with the Scotland international saving a crucial spot kick with the score perched at 2-1 in City's favour.

"David Marshall saved a late penalty as Norwich got their first away win. Jon Otsemobor's tackle on Andy Welsh did not deserve a spot-kick and Marshall made sure that justice was done. He threw himself at Wes Hoolahan's weak penalty, then blocked the follow-up."

The Daily Mirror went along a similar line, with Alan Nixon writing: "David Marshall's brilliant double save grabbed a first away win for Glenn Roeder's Norwich - and brought Blackpool back into relegation trouble. Keeper Marshall guessed right to stop Wes Hoolahan's late penalty and he leapt up to save the rebound to cling onto the precious triumph for the Canaries."
