CITY striker Kris Renton made history in the win over Leicester by becoming the youngest ever player to pull on a first team shirt.

Scotsman Renton came on as a 90th minute substitute in the 2-1 victory at the Walkers Stadium. Aged 16 years and 276 days, Renton beat Ryan Jarvis by six days to take the record.

And the youngster admitted there would be one or two phone calls to friends and family that night, and said to make his debut in a win made it all the more special.

"It feels amazing," he said. "When I first got on the bench at Colchester I didn't realise I would be the youngest player and now I've done it it feels fantastic.

"Everyone back home is going to get a phone call tonight to let them know."

And Grant said he was also pleased for the young Academy player.

"I didn't put him on for that (the record) and people think he's only been round the squad because he's a young man and I've been struggling for bodies.

"I've just watched him in training and watched him in youth team games. He's raw, he does things poorly at times and does things very well. I've delighted he's got on.

"People always remember their debuts and thankfully we got the victory."
