CELTIC goalkeeper David Marshall today returned to Carrow Road as a fully-fledged Canary after putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

The 22-year-old signs for an undisclosed sum, ending weeks of speculation linking him with a return to the club where he spent a spell on loan last season.

The Scotland international played just five games for City, with his loan spell cut short in February when he injured ankle ligaments during the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea.

But Grant saw enough of the 6ft 3in 'keeper to convince him he was worthy of a permanent place in his squad, and today secured his signature.

Grant said: "I'm delighted to be bringing a goalkeeper of David's calibre to the Club. The Club has to take a lot from the fact it made such an impression on David from the first time he was here.

"There has been a lot of discussions between Celtic and ourselves and at one stage we didn't think it was going to happen. But we are delighted David is now part of the Club.

"He has a big tradition of goalkeepers at Norwich City to follow and the competitive edge we have in this position will push David to the maximum.

"It's another position we have filled and hopefully we have a quality addition in a position which can earn you 10 or 15 points a season."

Marshall has played 49 times for Celtic since breaking into the team as a 19-year-old. His full debut came in a UEFA Cup match against Barcelona in the Nou Camp, with Marshall keeping a clean sheet to send the Scottish giants through to the next round by a 1-0 scoreline.

The following season Marshall proved to be Barcelona's nemesis in the same competition, this time saving a penalty from Brazilian superstar Ronaldhino, helping Celtic to a 1-0 home win.

Following the departure of Martin O'Neill from Celtic, Marshall found limited chances in the first team, with new boss Gordon Strachan bringing in Polish international Arthur Boruc.

Boruc's performances helped secure him the number one jersey at Celtic Park, with Marshall sent on loan to the Canaries in January this year to give him valuable first team games.

He impressed in this time, but the injury suffered in a boggy Stamford Bridge goalmouth ended his season.
