CHELSEA midfielder Jimmy Smith has returned to Stamford Bridge after his loan spell with the Canaries ended on December 31.

Smith joined the Canaries back in July 2007, making six start and three substitute appearances in a six month loan spell in which he did not make his full debut until October, after picking up a knee injury during City's Dutch pre-season tour.

Commenting on Smith, City boss Glenn Roeder said: "We would like to wish Jimmy the best of luck in his future career on his return to Chelsea. He's played his part here and we believe he will return to his club a better player."
