NORWICH City legend Kevin Keelan was awarded the number one jersey in Sunday's Greatest Ever event at Carrow Road.

Keelan, now a resident in Florida, made the trip back to Carrow Road with his wife Debbie and said what a great moment it had been to receive the award for Norwich City's Greatest Ever 'keeper.

"It's probably the achievement of my life. To be recognised by the Club that you spent 17 years with, almost two decades. It's a great trophy and I'm looking forward to taking it home and putting it right where I can see it every day of the week."

Kevin made 673 appearances for the Canaries, which included two trips to Wembley and winning a 1972 Division two championship medal. Now 67, the former 'keeper explained that he along with the players who joined him on Sunday were still as competitive as ever.

"It's true, I think anybody who has been a competitor all their life is like that. And this is the icing on the cake, to be recognised as number one with your Club. I don't know where I go from here, I can't get any higher than this."

It has been a number of years since Kevin has been back to Norwich, and he was amazed by the modern day look of Carrow Road.

"The ground is so beautiful now it's unbelievable, I only wish that I could have had the privilege of playing in these surroundings - it's a fabulous setting," he said.

"And you know something, without these fans it wouldn't have been possible. They have some great supporters here and hopefully we are going to see the Club back in the Premiership and then I can get more of them on Fox Television back in Florida!"

Keelan left England to play in the North American Soccer League in New England before joining the Tampa Bay Rowdies were he stills lives today. He is still involved in football by helping to train goalkeepers at Florida club Fort Myers, but the City legend explained that he still saw Norwich as his club.

"Seventeen years here, I'm not going anywhere, I don't want to go anywhere. I'd like them to come back and have a couple of years in the Premiership. It's a great Club, you can see what's happening here, I hope they can get back into the top flight I really do because these fans deserve it, they are so loyal and have done a great job."
