HEALTHY EATING AT CARROW ROAD
CARROW Road played host to 35 schools taking part in the Healthy Norfolk Schools Celebration Event.
A total of 160 pupils gathered at the 'Top of the Terrace' to celebrate work that has been going on in schools throughout the county to promote healthy eating and also to recognise the schools that have achieved National Healthy School Status.
Each of the schools that attended had prepared an educational display with the theme of healthy eating. They also produced an activity for visitors and other schools to take part in. One of the schools was Flegg High, City's partner in the Fairplay Scheme, who were serving 'Healthy School-Made Groovy Smoothie Fruit Drinks'. On the day they were proud to be presented with a National Healthy School Status plaque.
Jeremy Goss joined the pupils and commented: "This was a brilliant event and one that was fantastic for me as Community Ambassador to represent the Football Club at. It was terrific to see Rosalie Monbiot, Norfolk Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services, present Flegg High with their award.
"The Football Club's playing it's part in doing what we do - we're touching out to the community in many different forms, ways, shapes and sizes, and this is part of it."
During the day, schools were given the opportunity to be taken on a tour around the ground. Alan Armstrong who works part time at the club and Pete Sylvester, a former Canaries player, conducted the tours.
"This was the Club playing our part in the day - hosting it here at The Top of The Terrace, with the backdrop of the pitch which is just fantastic, and we had the tours which were brilliant for the children."
