GARY Doherty has told First News he is delighted to have completed a two-year deal with Norwich. The 28-year-old Irishman joined from Spurs in 2004, and says he is very happy to be staying in Norfolk.

"It's a two year deal so obviously I'm really pleased with that. I figured that the Club's going in the right direction and I'm enjoying my football here and I hope that continues.

"You ask any player, they want to be enjoying their football and their training and I'm certainly doing that at the moment.

Asked whether he thinks promotion is a realistic aim for the Club, Doc commented:

"We've got a tough start away to Coventry but once we get past that we need to start digging in at home and start getting the results which will push us up the league."
