FALKENBERGS FF 0 NORWICH 3
THE CANARIES made it two wins from two as they defeated Falkenbergs FF 3-0 on Tuesday night in Sweden. Goals from Darel Russell and Lee Croft in the first half were followed by a fantastic finish from Jamie Cureton to end the Canaries' five-day Swedish tour.
Elliot Omozusi made his City debut joining Sammy Clingan as centreback cover, deputising for the injured duo Gary Doherty and Jason Shackell.
Jamie Cureton continued his recovery from injury and started for the first time this pre-season joining trialist Chris Makiese up front. Academy Scholar David Stephens joined the City squad after recently representing Wales U17s in a tournament in Sweden.
The Canaries made the perfect start in the fourth minute. A corner from the right was whipped in by City captain Mark Fotheringham and Darel Russell jumped perfectly, heading into the top right-hand corner.
The home side responded immediately and forced David Marshall to make a good save to keep the score at 1-0.
Russell came close to a second in the 16th minute. This time Pattison was the supplier from a corner and Russell met the ball on the volley but his effort was blocked and the follow-up cleared the Falkenbergs crossbar.
The second goal for the Canaries came from Lee Croft in the 42nd minute. The winger had come close to scoring against Ahlafors last Saturday but made no mistake getting on the end of a Wes Hoolahan cross. The Irishman beat his marker with close control and rolled the ball into the six-yard box with Croft winning the scramble to score his first goal since the game against Watford at Carrow Road last November.
The beginning of the second half saw the home side come close to getting one goal back. A deep cross was hit into Marshall's area. The Scotsman attempted to gather the ball above a group of players and lost the catch. The ball fell kindly to the Falkenbergs striker but Sammy Clingan produced a sliding tackle to keep the score at 2-0.
As canaries.co.uk announced the signing of Lupoli on a season-long loan, one of his future colleagues gave City a 3-0 lead.
Jamie Cureton found space just outside the right-hand side of the area and floated in a sublime lob which cleared the flailing custodian into the top corner.
A volley from Pattison in the 82nd from the edge of the area was well saved by Wullf in the Falkenbergs' goal followed by Croft coming close to a second five minutes from time.
As the referee blew his final whistle the Canaries faithful applauded their team in what had been a strong performance and good preparation for the Tottenham Hotspur game next week.
