GLENN Roeder has told of his delight at his team's efforts in their winning game against Falkenbergs.

In their second game of their Swedish tour, Norwich added another triumph to their pre-season successes. With the new campaign fast approaching, Roeder said he was pleased with how things were coming together. "I thought we stepped up a lot tonight compared to Saturday. Saturday was decent but this team plays a division up and is a lot stronger team, and yet the way we played you would have never have guessed that they play in a higher division.

"The improvement from Saturday to tonight has even surprised me. I wasn't expecting us to play as well as that, obviously I wanted us to, but it was a pleasant surprise as I thought we dominated from start to finish."

Having had a busy few days in the summer transfer market, the Canaries manager was asked about one of his new additions to the squad, Italian youngster Aturo Lupoli. He commented: "I am very pleased. He did very well as a youngster at Arsenal. The standards are so high though at Arsenal Football Club that he moved on to Derby. There he played in the side that Billy Davis managed, and I did my homework on him.

"Obviously I have seen him myself but I spoke to a few people at Arsenal who I trust, and they said that at Championship level, like he proved at Derby, if you give him chances he'll take them. Character is important to me and I am told he is an excellent lad around the changing rooms, which is important because we have got a great team spirit inside the dressing room and we need to make sure we don't bring anyone in that spoils that.

"Arturo will certainly add to our team spirit and is an extremely hard-working player who works off the shoulder, makes runs in behind, and we now need to find a bigger, more physical striker for him and for Cureton. Obviously Cureton is at his best when he's playing with a bigger striker along side him, which is the same for Arturo."

Elliot Omozusi made his debut for City at the game on Tuesday, joining new boy Sammy Clingan as centre back cover standing in for injured duo Jason Shackell and Gary Doherty.  "I couldn't be more pleased with our new lads. I know they've taken their time to arrive, but I think that our supporters are going to like all of our new signings. The ones who have seen them already will hopefully be impressed with them.

"I know it's taken a long time to bring them to the Club but anyone can sign five or six bad players in one day, and then five or six bad players the next day. There's hundreds of bad players out there looking for clubs and I'm just sifting through the players that are available to us carefully. We are working to a budget and I have got to make sure that I spend every penny carefully. I'm very pleased so far with who we've brought in.

On the likelihood of Shackell and Doherty returning for the Spurs game, Roeder said: " I can be one hundred per-cent certain that Shackell will be fit, and Doc's probably seventy-thirty, and we're going to take no chances. When he gets back to Norwich he's going to have a scan to see that there's no damage other than severe bruising."
