CELTIC central defender John Kennedy is set to join the Canaries in a half-season loan deal.

The 24-year-old would be the eighth signing for Glenn Roeder this summer. He made his first team debut against Motherwell in April 2000, when he became the youngest ever player to represent Celtic at the age of 16 years and 231 days. However, this record was later broken by City's own Mark Fotheringham.

Kennedy came through Celtic's youth system and made his first-team debut during the 1999-2000 season but it wasn't until the 2003-04 season that he became a firm favourite with fans. He has made 32 appearances plus 14  as a sub scoring one goal.

A Scottish international, he has made one appearance alongside Canary 'keeper David Marshall. He has also made 15 appearances for the U21 team, scoring one goal. A knee injury suffered against Romania in March 2004 kept him out of the Celtic first team for almost three years. In late 2006 Kennedy resumed training and was named as a substitute for Celtic's Champions League match against A.C. Milan in February 2007. He started his comeback against Kilmarnock on April 22, 2007, helping Celtic clinch the title and playing the full 90 minutes. Four days later he signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The Bellshill born player is the grandson of Celtic and Manchester United player Jimmy Delaney, and he is currently Celtic's longest-serving player, having spent eight years at the club.
