EXPERIENCED campaigner Dejan Stefanovic says City need to stay positive after their 5-1 friendly defeat against Premiership Tottenham.

Stefanovic made his debut in Canary colours against a strong Spurs side - and inadvertantly opened the scoring for Tottenham when a cross from Dos Santos cannoned off his heel and past the helpless Marshall in the tenth minute.

Stefanovic commented on his first match at Carrow Road: "It was a very hard game to be honest with you, they are a Premiership club and they keep the ball well. We played the first half well, the second half we were all over the place but you take positives from the game.

"We played against a top side but that's no excuse - we are better than that and we need to be positive."

With a career spanning over 14 years, the 5' 11" player brings a valuable experience to the City squad. The 33-year-old made his international debut for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia aged 20, against Hong Kong in 1995, before making a £2 million move to Sheffield Wednesday a year later.

Asked for his thoughts on his new team, he said: "We've got some good young players here, who need to learn a lot and we need to cope with the pressure in the Championship.

"We're going to be OK this season. It's an excellent place to play, it's the first time I have played here and it's a good ground."
