THE Norwich City Study Centre kicked off the school holidays in style by holding their annual Summer Challenge.

Children from Framingham Earl, Taverham and Sprowston High schools, along with youngsters from Kinsale Junior School joined forces to create their very own 'pop mime' video to the song "Perfect Day".

Helped out by several cameo performances from various members of Norwich City Football Club staff, the students had just a week to plan, film and edit the production, all of which took place around Carrow Road. The 'premiere' was shown to parents at the end of the week in Club 101 and proved a huge success.

"The children have worked really hard this week," said Nichola Bennett, Tutor at the Study Centre. "They have exceeded our expectations in the quality of the work they created, and should be very proud of their achievements."

After being given a copy of the DVD they created, the children were understandably delighted. Louise of Framlingham Earl took part in the challenge. "Every day was really fun. We all especially loved creating the video, even though we had to do more than one take before we got it right!"

James Roberts, who was in charge of teaching the children how to use the movie editing computer programme was also impressed. "The ICT skills needed to edit movies aren't easy to learn. It just shows how receptive these children are to new technology, and how quickly they've grasped the concept of Summer Challenge."

The Challenge was part of the University for the First Age schemes, which saw numerous activities taking place across the county.
