NORWICH City midfielder Sammy Clingan says that despite losing to Coventry, the Canaries are looking forward to more positive results in the future.

The curtain raiser at the Ricoh Stadium was the first league game at Norwich for the 24-year-old, who was Glenn Roeder's first signing in the summer transfer market.

Asked how he felt the game at Coventry went, the Northern Irish international said: "I think personally it went OK for me, obviously there was the penalty decision which I wasn't too pleased with, but you get these decisions in the game and you just have to get on with it. I think it's a whole reflection on the match, we were on top throughout and if we'd put our chances away in the first half, I think we would have gone on to win the game comfortably.

"It was bad because it was straight after half time and they got their goal, and it put them on the front foot. Saying that, we did still create good chances and I think if we just could have taken them we could have won the game."

As the City squad prepare to take on MK Dons away, the emphasis is being put on looking to the future and concentrating on getting a result in the first round of the Carling Cup. Clingan was positive that his team would put on a good performance at the Stadium MK. "I definitely think that throughout the game at Coventry you would have thought we were the home-side, the way we kept that ball and created the chances. Now we just have to look forward to the next game and put Coventry to the back of our minds and go on and win the next game.

"It will take time for us all to gel, but the quicker the better because it breeds confidence amongst the players. Then we can push on and have a good run. Every footballer wants to play every game and I'm no different, no matter whether it's a friendly, the Carling Cup, or the FA Cup - you just want to play every game. I think if we can win the game against MK Dons then it will give us a lot of confidence for the game against Blackpool on Saturday."
