CITY new boy Elliot Omozusi was one of six to make his league debut for the Canaries on Saturday against Coventry and came through playing 90 minutes at his traditional position of right-back. The 19 year-old has now been with the Canaries since mid-July after joining on a season-long loan from Fulham and explained that he was encouraged with how things have been going.

"I'm happy, I've got a good pre-season under my belt and I'm feeling fit, and I put in a decent performance at Coventry although we didn't get a win. I definitely like to apply my trade at right-back and I'm comfortable playing centre-half as well. I like to get forward as much as possible, I wouldn't say I'm 100 per-cent fit so I've got to plan my runs well," said the defender.

"My main aim for my time here is getting as many games in as possible, and hopefully staying injury free. I want to help Norwich as much as I can help myself.  It's different to playing in the Premiership, it's a lot faster tempo but I think I have adapted well. Norwich is really nice, it's a great place to live and I'm settling down well at the Club. The people here are really good, the lads and all the staff have all been really welcoming."

Elliot was not alone when he made the move from Craven Cottage to Carrow Road as Dejan Stefanovic penned a two-year deal with the Canaries on the same day. The young right-back explained that Dejan had been a help to him during his time at Fulham and here at Norwich as he continues to settle in.

"Dejan has been a big help for me, because when I started playing first team football at Fulham he was one of the big guys that helped me. Having him down here will always be beneficial to me. Ryan (Bertrand) and I played for both the England U17s and U18s so it's nice having him around here too. Before I came here I called him, obviously with him being here the season before, he said he really enjoyed it and the staff were all really nice."

Glenn Roeder expressed a requirement for competition in every position in the City squad during the summer break and Omosuzi's season-long loan will see him battle with Jon Otsemobor for the right-back starting position. Elliot felt that this was good for the Canaries to have this in every position on the pitch.

"Competition for places on the pitch is healthy for the Club, and I will do everything in my power to keep my shirt and I know that there's always someone right behind me if I'm not performing."

Omozusi could make his second start for the Canaries this evening as they travel to the MK Dons for the opening round of the Carling Cup. City boss Glenn Roeder had much praise for Roberto Di Matteo's side in his pre-match press conference ahead of the League Cup opener, and Elliot explained to the media that he was also expecting a tough encounter.

"They'll go into the match knowing that they're the underdogs, and we just have to match that and hope that our quality will take us on to win the game. They'll definitely be going in as hard as they can straight from the start because they know that we're coming away to play them and going to their home ground so they will do their absolute best," he said.

"The Carling Cup is very important for us, it gives us a chance to step out of the Championship and play different teams. Hopefully we'll get a good run under our belt which is always important."
