DAVID Marshall has said he is confident that City's game against MK Dons will end in success for Norwich.
City's 'keeper told First News that although Saturday's result was disheartening for the Canaries, the team can't lose confidence over the weekend's set-back.
"It wasn't the result we were looking for, especially in the first game of the season," said the Norwich number 1. "It was disappointing. We missed a lot of chances, their 'keeper played well, but we can't keep saying this, we need to get points on the board."
Marshall was tested right from the start, thrown in at the deep end with a penalty shoot-out in City's first match of the season. The 'keeper said: "It was a case of either going high or low and so I decided to go low and he obviously got it in just a bit higher.
"The result, it was a hard one to take, especially having played so well but hopefully we can get a good result and get our confidence up against MK Dons."
On the new pairing of Dejan Stefanovic and John Kennedy in front of him, Marshall said: "I think they've been great, the whole back four. The other team were very lucky and the boys were great and they need to take confidence from that and hopefully our goals will go in this time.
"The boys will take their chances at Milton Keynes and then again on Saturday against Blackpool. I've known John for six, seven years now so I know the way he plays. He loves defending, loves tackles and loves winning headers and I think that's something we needed. Him and Dejan are great and I hope it continues."
As the Norwich squad get ready to travel to Stadium MK, Marshall spoke about the significance of the Carling Cup, to both him personally and to the team as a whole. He added: "We're all looking forward to it, it definitely means as much as any other game. As sort as you get across the white line it's a game and you're playing for your places again so it means as much to me as any other game does.
On MK Dons, Marshall commented: "Obviously they had a disappointing result at the weekend, so they'll be well up for this game. It's also a big game for us having lost our first, and we definitely don't want to go home without winning before Saturday so it's a big game and the boys are all really up for it.
"We'll go for a win on Tuesday, we know it'll be difficult but if we played the way we did on Saturday but take our chances, we should be OK. You don't want a penalty - you want the boys to take their chances and get their confidence up."
