DAVID Marshall says that a win against Birmingham would be a further boost to City's confidence when the Blues come to Carrow Road this weekend.

As the Norwich 'keeper gets ready to take on Birmingham, Marshall said despite the visitors being one of the top three teams in the league, City must keep their eyes on the three-point prize.

"It's going to be a tough match, obviously we haven't won a game yet and they've won every league game so far. They have by far the best squad in the Championship but we're due a win and you could say they're due a defeat. We will just go in believing we can get three points.

"If we can get a win against them, it will give the boys a lot of confidence. We haven't been playing badly, but obviously we haven't got that win. Lupo scored a couple of goals and hopefully that will raise his confidence. We'll have a big crowd on Saturday."

Marshall added that there would be a familiar face amongst the travelling Birmingham. "I know Alex McLeish, he's a good manager and he'll have his team well organised. They've pretty much got a Premiership squad but that's not to say they'll just turn up and win. They'll have a good work ethic as well and at the end of the day they're not going to go through this season without losing a game, so hopefully this time it will be Saturday.

"McLeish is great, he was in the Scotland squad, he's had a lot of success at Rangers and was unlucky not to get Scotland to the Euros. His team will work hard and he's got that bit of quality up front and McFadden as well in midfield - he's a top player. As I say it will be a difficult game but it's nothing for us to fear and hopefully we'll get the three points.

Having played three league games into the 2008-09 season, the 23-year-old was asked for his thoughts on the new central-defense combination. "It's been great to be fair, defensively we're not been too bad. I know we've conceded three penalties but if you take them out, the boys have been pretty sound. John and Dejan look as if they have been playing together for years, obviously I've played with Ryan last season so it's been good.

"If we can get into the lead in games, that's when the defence can keep us in it and we can get that vital win."

It was also announced yesterday that City's number one had been included in the Scotland squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers next week with trips to Macedonia and Iceland. With a touch qualifying group including Norway and Holland Marsh explained that it was important for the side to get off to a good start.

"I think Macedonia have had a couple of good results against England recently. It will be 110 degrees there next Saturday, they will be two tough games," he said. "I think if we take four points from the first two games, that'll be good because we need a good start with Holland and Norway being the other two in the group so it will be difficult. But if we can go unbeaten in the first two then we should have a chance."
