SIBIERSKI GIVEN NUMBER 9 SHIRT
CITY boss Glenn Roeder has handed Antoine Sibierski the number 9 shirt, with making and scoring goals very much on the French forward's agenda.
The Norwich manager signed Sibierski on loan from Wigan just before this week's transfer deadline closed. This is second time the pair have worked together - Roeder first signed Sibierski at Newcastle on transfer deadline day in 2006.
Speaking exclusively to canaries.co.uk, Sibierski said working alongside City boss Glenn Roeder in the past played a significant part in his decision to join Norwich City on loan from Wigan.
"I knew Glenn Roeder at Newcastle and that definitely helped me in my decision to come to Norwich. I know Norwich are a big club, so that and Glenn being manager both made my decision easier.
"Glenn knows everything about me and I think when I signed for Newcastle he knew about the player that I am and he knows the roles which I can do best, and that's off the striker. I played against Norwich with Man City three or four years ago when Norwich were playing in the Premier League, and I know Lee Croft from when we played together at Man City.
"I remember thinking Norwich was a nice area, very quiet and I remember it was a very good stadium, a typical English stadium which is what I love. There were also many, many fans in the stadium during that game."
On an injury recently obtained to his foot during a training session at Wigan, the Frenchman added: "I'm all right, I just need a few days off just to have some rest. I feel fit, I had a good pre-season and soon I'm going to be at Norwich, I want to train as quick as I can with my new team-mates and I'm planning now for the days ahead. I need to be as quick as I can to get to Norwich as I am now a Norwich player, and I want to do my best for them."
As he prepares to join his Canary team-mates, Antoine added that he was delighted to be staying in England. "I've been living here for five years now with my wife and children, and when I'm not playing football any more we are planning to stay here.
"We love to live in England, we have friends here, and there is not reason for us to go back to France because we feel very good here."
