JOHN Kennedy is itching to get back out on the pitch after the international break.

As the Canaries travel to Home Park to meet with Plymouth, the Norwich defender told First News that he's looking forward to taking on the Pilgrims.

He said: "The break has given everyone a chance to try and rest up a bit, but I think we're all itching to get going again and we're ready for tomorrow. As I did against Cardiff and Birmingham and everywhere else, I'll just be going into the game focused on us and no-one else."

With the international break out of the way, Sammy Clingan has returned to Norwich this week with an injury to his shoulder, picked up whilst representing Northern Ireland. Glenn Roeder has already made his frustration at losing a key player known, and Kennedy said he could understand the manager's feelings: "It can be frustrating at times, I but I think everyone wants to play for their country and they obviously don't mean to get injured. It is frustrating when they're important to the team.

Asked whether he was aiming for a return to the Scottish national team, 25-year-old Kennedy added: "It's important for me just to play football and concentrate on that first and foremost. I'll worry about that later, if it comes along then great.

"There are plenty of players that are in the Scotland set-up that are playing down in England, and in Scotland and elsewhere, and George Burley has seen a lot of games. I just need to keep playing here and concentrating on that."

One of this summer's new faces on the pitch at Carrow Road, Kennedy has recently welcomed another City newcomer, in the form of Wigan loanee Antoine Sibierski. Kennedy was clearly impressed with the Frenchman's performances so far at the Colney training ground, and said that although his presence will add more options to the Norwich squad, it wouldn't alter the Canaries' game-plan. "He's been good, I know a bit about him from watching Premiership games and I think he's going to be a good signing for us.

"The manager has done well to pull in a player of that stature, he's certainly a good player and he's shown that in training over the past week. He's been looking good, he can certainly finish and that's something we were definitely needing. He's a Premiership player so he's going to be hard for anybody and he's shown that in training. There will certainly be plenty of opportunitites for him to get games here and hopefully do well for the team.

"We'll still play the way that we have done, I just think it will give us a different option at times. There's some games where it's a bit hustle and bustle and not too nice, so sometimes you need to put it up there and hopefully somebody can hold it in. Having someone up there with a bit of height and presence will give us options but we'll still stick to the same game-plan."
