WE WIN AND LOSE TOGETHER - MARSHALL
AFTER suffering a 2-0 defeat at St Mary's stadium, Norwich 'keeper David Marshall says the Canaries must do all they can to gain three important points this Saturday when they play host to Derby County.
Gaining just one point in two away matches in under a week, Marshall added he had been confident of getting vastly different results prior to both games.
He commented: "It's disappointing, that's obvious. We played decently enough, we created a few chances and fair play to the boys, there was a great save from OJ (Koroma) which turned the game - and the penalty was disappointing.
"It was disappointing to lose and going into these two away games I thought we'd get six points but we came away with one, which isn't good enough. We had chances in the first half and the second half and Sibi was unlucky in the first but it's always going to be difficult once you're down to ten men."
Norwich defender Dejan Stefanovic received a two-match ban following the red card he was given during the game at Southampton. Marshall said the City squad were united in both their victories and their defeats: "I don't think he's let the boys down," he added. "We win and lose together so it's just disappointing for the team.
"Dejan and John (Kennedy) have been great in the centre half positions so it's disappointing to lose him especially with John injured.
The City goalkeeper made it clear he wasn't happy with having been on the receiving end of so many penalties so far this season: "It's too much of a coincidence now, there's been five in eight or nine games so we have to put an end to that because it's more or less a goal every game.
"The one in the first game of the season at Coventry wasn't a pen so you can really argue the point, and maybe one or two are coincidences but when we've had five in eight or nine games, we need to do better than that."
Asked what it would take for City to bounce back after the Southampton game, Marshall replied: "We just need to win on Saturday; we've got an international break after that so it's going to be a long two weeks.
"It's so disappointing with these last two games, it's hard to take but we just have to win on Saturday and that's it."
