STEFANOVIC INJURY LATEST

Posted on: Fri 14 Nov 2008

CITY boss Glenn Roeder has told canaries.co.uk that Serbian defender Dejan Stefanovic looks likely to be out of action for a significant amount of time after receiving results of the defender's scan.

Stefanovic was stretchered off during City's draw with Preston at Carrow Road after challenging for the ball on half-way with opposition striker Stephen Elliott in the eighth minute of the game.

Speaking exclusively to First News, the Norwich Manager said: "He has been to see a specialist and had a scan and unfortunately, he has ruptured cruciate knee ligaments which will need an operation in the next two weeks.

"The Preston game was marred by injuries to Stefanovic and Antoine Sibierski. Sadly the news surrounding Dejan is more serious than we first thought. This is clearly a long-term injury and a massive blow to the Club and Dejan personally.

"Until the surgeon has completed the operation it's difficult to assess how long he will be out for, but obviously with this kind of injury you are talking about a lengthy delay."

Meanwhile Roeder also confirmed that Antoine Sibierski (knee) is out of contention for Saturday's clash with Swansea but will hopefully be back in the squad for the game at the City Ground against Forest the following weekend.
