On The Ball written by Benedict Cordy.

It's all over, that was City's last chance. Another game of two halfs for the Yellows. They will feel hard done by not earning a point. Final Score, Wednesday 3, City 2.

90+1: Freekick to City wide right. Semmy will take. It goes deep, Sibi gets his head on it, it goes back to Clingan who chests it, hits a left foot volley but it's not going to threaten the Wednesday goal. Leroy chests it well but the flag goes up, he doesn't know and shots forcing Grant to make a save. He puts it in on the second attempt.

90th: Three minutes to be added.

87th: Every break from Wednesday makes the crowd even louder. Buxton shots from distance ut it clears the bar. They come forward again and Marshall produces a great low save  to deny McAllister, Semmy clears the danger.

85th: One for the own goals and gaffs video i'm afraid. It would appear Wes touched it, The wednesday players closed it down and no one reacted. They counter with Esajas whose shot goes well wide. Would have been a nightmare if they had scored from that.

84th: Lita wins the Canaries a freekick about 30 yards out. Clingan and Hoolahan are over it.

83rd: I actually think, or hope that the fog is getting worse now. I can't see the fans sat in the opposite stand.

81st: Kennedy has been sent off. A long clearance finds the big Scotsman and Clarke who tangle on the halfway line. It's 50-50 in terms of contact and they both hit the deck. Referee Bates steps up and shows Kennedy the red. Not surprisingly the defender is not at all happy with that decision.

80th: Wednesday still pressing. They have a number of throw-ins deep in the city half but can't make anything of them. Now City look to break down the right and win a throw in.

79th: Sibi is on for Bell. Wes moves to the left wing.

76th: Freekick to Wednesday on the right touchline in the City half.

72nd: Wednesday have the lead again. A long cross from Buxton on the left beats Jeffers and two City defenders but not Tudgay whose diving header gives Marshall no chance. 3-2 to the Owls.

71st: Clingan is in acres down the middle. He chooses to pass to Lita who is pushed wide right. He still has a chance though and unleashes a right footed effort that goes wide.

67th: Pattison is now at left back as Russell fits into his usual position of central midfield. The fog isn't any worse than it has been as my phone buzzes with texts from Norfolk full of worry that the game will be stopped.

65th: Today's attendance is 18,883.

63rd: Lita puts City level. The press box missed the build up not expecting the striker to even have a sniff at goal! The throw in was taken, Lita managed to gather on th edge of the box and shot across goal. It clips the post on the way in. Hopefully Radio Norfolk saw it!

61st: Rusty returns from a three match ban and replaces Adam Drury. He is going to play at left back as well.

60th: Buxton nearly makes it three shoting from the edge of the area on the half-volley. Marshall gets down to it and blocks well. He can't gather it but thankfully Otsemobor is the first player to the ball and clears.

58th: It's still the homside producing all the pressure. The Canaries need to get back into this game.

56th: Wednesday have the lead. City fail to deal with the attacking owls. Leon Clarke finds space on the right following a pass from Tudgay and drills a shot low and hard into the opposite corner past Marshall. The Hillsborough failthful are in good voice now.

55th: City look to get themselves into this half breaking down the left but Bell is cut out. The Owls head down the other edn sending in a deep cross. Marshall comes out and punches clear.

52nd: Roeder is down on the touchline now giving out orders to his defence.

50th: Their good start is reward. McMahon, on the last game of his loan spell bursts through the Yellow shirts to header home unmarked. Wednesday 1, City 1.

49th: It's a very different Owls team who have come out in the second half. They are pushing City back and have had a number of chances already. They now have a corner from the right.

46th: Watson is off for McAllister and straight away Marshall has to produce a great save. The 'keeper comes out and manages to punch Tudgay's cross away but the ball falls to Esajas, he hits a left foot effort but Marshall gets a stong hand to it and pushes it over the bar.

The good news as the teams return to the pitch is that the fog hasn't got any worse. City will be attacking The Carlsberg Stand and the Canary fans. Come on City, more of the same please.

It's half-time, the locals aren't happy with their sides efforts thus far. City have played well, and I would say deserve their lead. Wednesday 0 City 1

45th: One minute to be added. This fog is getting slightly thicker.

45th: City counter and have lots of space. Hoolahan and Pattison link up well. Wes sends Pattison clear down the left, the South African tries to pick out Lita but it's not a great pass.

42nd: Penalty to City. Hoolahan is brought down by Tudgay just before the midfielder could shot. Clingan steps up, and scores!!!!! Top right, great pen, City have the lead.

40th: Wes show great skill in the Wednesday half keepin the ball as three blue and white shirts close him down. He tries to back heel the ball away but it runs off for a goalkick. He felt he was fouled by one of the defenders. Referee Bates is having none of it.

38th: Jeffers is offside by at least a yard but plays on, the flag goes up but he still puts it in the back of the net. Some of the locals go wild, but it's short lived.

36th: A member of the Wednesday media team tells me that the side seem to break down in the final third all the time. As he does a cross clears City's bar by about 20 metres. "That was the kiss of death" I said, "no, just experience" is the reply.

34th: Attacking freekick for Wednesday. Three men stand over the ball. It's rolled to Esajas who hits  curling effort with his left. Marshall is full stretch and it beats him but thankfully the right hand post as well. Fog is decending on Hillsborough.

32nd: Wood stands tall and does well to block Lita. City have another corner but yet again can't make anything from it. They come back though with Crofty on the right. He sends in a good cross but it's just too high fro Patter. Wednesday clear again but City come back sending in a high ball but yet again Leroy is offside.

30th: Adam must have heard he as he overlaps Bell and wins City a corner on the left. Bell sends it to the back post and Doc dives at it looking for the diving header. He felt he was fouled but the linesman disagrees. City get the ball back down on the ground. Pattison shoots from the edge of the area and it deflects off Beevers, some of the City players felt that was handball but play continues.

28th: The Owls are giving Adam Drury loads of time on the ball. Too much really. Think he should look to get forward into the space. After all he was unlucky not to score from that header early on against Palace on Tuesday.

25th: Semmy looks to go forward now but Steve Watson puts in a well timed sliding tackle to deny the right back any further progress.

23rd: Jeffers gets his first chance of the game as he headers from close range. It's a tame effort and goes wide of Marshall's left hand post.

21st: City have another corner. Bell takes but Wednesday clear and look to counter. City get back in time and cut out Esajas who has looked pretty good in the early stages.

19th: Kennedy doesn't allow Jeffers any space and does well to shepard the ball out for a freekick.

17th: Good battle in the midfield from both sides. City stay strong as Wednesday look to build. Leroy is caught offside as Drury sends a high ball in from deep.

14th: Matty Patty looks for his third in a row.! The Owls defence give him way too much room, he hits it from 25 yards with his left forcing Grant into a good save. City win another corner after the first effort delfects off a Wednesday defender. This time the homeside put a bit of distance on the clearance.

10th: Esajas finds a burst of pace and beats the Doc on the left. He tries to pick out Jeffers for what would surely be a simple tap-in but slips while passing. Thankfully the ball rolls to Marshall. Half chance for the Owls.

8th: Croft gets back well and puts in a good tackle on Clarke.

7th: Good work from Wes on the right allows him to find Bell in space.  City win a corner. It's half cleared by the Owls but City send it again deep. Lita clases with Grant in the Wednesday goal. The ball falls to Kennedy who hits a half volley into the net. The City fans go wild, but the offside flag is up against Lita from his earlier attempt while under pressure from Grant.

5th: The homeside have come alive since that corner, looking to get forward as soon as they get the ball. Watson had space in the middle but opted to pass. Don't think he realised how much room he had.

3rd: Wednesday corner from McMahon. Marshall punches well and it's cleared to safety.

2nd: Pretty even start to the game. Leroy looked to break down the right early on connecting well with Crofty but nothing came of it. The home fans are already unhappy with some early decisions from referee Tony Bates.

City have their travelling fans behind them in the first half, quite literally as they will attack the Carlsberg stand in the second half. We are away, Come on you Yellows!

The air raid siren kicks in with "Right Here, Right Now" by Fat Boy Slim. The crowd are ready. Just awaiting the teams. The boxing announcement of "Lets ger ready to rummmmbbblllleeeeee" screams out of the P.A as the teams come onto the field. Hats off to the Owls, what a build up.

Vangelis rings out around Hillsborough at about a million decibels as we await the action here this afternoon. The crowd is some what smaller than the last time we made the trip to play the Owls. Over 40,000 watched the homeside secure safety on the final day of last season beating the Canaries 4-1. Lets hope for a very different result today.

Glenn Roeder makes two changes to the side that lost 2-1 against Palace on Tuesday night at Carrow Road. Gary Doherty is back from his one match suspension and replaces the injured Ryan Bertrand. The Doc will wear the captain's armband as Mark Fotheringham starts on the bench. The City boss puts Hoolahan into the starting line up while Sibierski is on the bench.
