LITA READY FOR LOCAL RIVALS
AS City prepare for what could be Leroy Lita's final game for the Canaries, the Reading striker says he's looking forward to this weekend's game against Ipswich Town.
Sunday will see Norwich entertain the Tractor Boys at Carrow Road (1.15), and Lita told First News he fully understood the significance of the weekend's local derby.
"In this part of the country it's a massive game so we'll be looking to win," he said. "I just want to put in a performance for myself and the team and win the match. I think league form goes out the window because obviously they're our rivals and it's just about who is better on the day and who takes their chances, and whoever makes the most of the occasion.
"We've lost a lot of games and we've let too many chances slip so far, so we have to put that right and get in amongst it. We're not consistent enough, as soon as we put that right we're as good as anyone. We played some great football against Sheffield Wednesday but we let it slip so I'm looking forward to our next game, it's going to be good. The fans have been talking about it, and the players have been saying it's a great game to play in so I'm looking forward to it."
Lita scored his sixth goal for Norwich at Hillsbrough, his first away from the City home ground. As part of his goal celebration, the 23-year-old revealed a vest underneath his match shirt displaying a message dedicated to the people of his country of birth, The Democratic Republic of the Congo. "It's something that I'd planned to do because back home it's a bit tough for people at the moment," Lita told canaries.co.uk. "I just wanted to show a bit of support. My family are really pleased that I did it and if the message gets across then hopefully it will keep peoples' spirits up."
"It's always good to score, I believe I can score in every game and I go into every game thinking I can, so I'll keep on doing it."
Asked whether he would like to see an extension to his loan spell with Norwich City, Lita replied: "I've got no problem with staying here, I'm playing and I need to play every week. I've made it clear that I don't want to go back to Reading and sit on the bench or not be involved.
"I'm enjoying playing here and I just want to do well for the Club. Unless Reading are going to call me back and play me, that's the only way I'll go back. I've not spoken to anyone about it yet so I'm just looking forward to Sunday and I'll take it from there."
